COMPETITIVE ADVANTAGES
EPOD's TEN (10) KEY COMPETITIVE ADVANTAGES
- First, the EPOD Creates and Delivers Electrical Power ‘On-Demand’ without requiring fossil fuels (Gas, Diesel, etc.), sunshine, wind power, hydrogen or fuel cell technology. “On-Demand” power delivery means it only outputs the power requirements of loads being powered by the EPOD. Normal fossil fuel generators create and output their full power capacity all the time they operate. If 500 watts of power is being drawn from a normal gas generator it still outputs its 2000+ watts of power. If 500 watts of power is being drawn from EPOD, then only 500 watts of power is released or generated by the EPOD. This can extend EPOD’s power reserves to a much longer time frame. Conventional generators burn fuel at a constant rate. EPOD’s ON-Demand system uses only the fuel it needs at any given moment in time.
- Second, the EPOD Operates via an Internal Computer-Controlled System using power management algorithms that optimize power production, distribution and storage. The system is even further enhanced through the use of a proprietary Intelligent Battery System (IBS) that has a physically layered interactive matrix capable of selectively, and simultaneously, accessing an individual cell, or groups of cells, for both power-out delivery and power-in charging functions.
- Third, EPOD is designed for Easy Logistics. The system is lightweight (about 45 lbs.), water-tight, and fully ruggedized for transport (e.g., by a homeowner, 1st Responder or Soldier). The EPOD has a set of extendable / retractable wheels that in combination with the extended pull handle can roll the EPOD anywhere like a piece of “carry-on luggage”. Additionally, the body of the EPOD has 10 “Hardpoint” rings all around the exterior (2 Forward, 2 on the rear and 3 on each side) for use in [a] securing the unit during transport, [b] to tie the unit down when needed, [c] for attaching ropes to the EPOD for lifting or lowering it to hard to reach locations, and [d] to attached a set of backpack straps to carry the EPOD. The backpack straps are included with each unit and are stored in a compartment on the rear of the unit.
- Fourth, EPOD Utilizes a Unique Solid Power Module (SPM) system as its main fuel source. The SPM format, also called ‘power module magazines’, are lightweight, cost-effective and simple to manufacture. The modular power is not geo-political (i.e.: not Oil-based) and can be manufactured almost anywhere on the planet with commonly available materials. The EPOD system can be rapidly charged or recharged using the power modules. The SPM fuel has a proven energy reliability that spans decades of use in other applications. The power modules have already established that they can be safely stored for long periods of time (5+ years) with little or no energy degradation. The SPM are also easily packaged and safely transported (as opposed to petro-fuels) so that their logistics are as low cost as any lightweight, compact dry goods.
- Fifth, the EPOD Incorporates TWO (2) Separate and Different Power Generation Input Methodologies which utilize the same components of the integral power generation, transfer, storage and distribution systems. The two systems operate independently of each other. One system uses the SPM (Solid Power Modules) and an ‘Impulse Drive’ to generate high power (2000+ watts) “On-Demand”, while the other system uses Human Body Kinetics (HBK) which can generate a lower level of power (100 Watt/Hrs per Hr). An animation of an EPOD set up for HBK, is shown at right, with its 2 ‘ArmBars’ and its user standing ‘Stability Pad’ extended. HBK power, which can be generated continuously under certain conditions, can be accumulated in the EPOD Intelligent Battery System (IBS) to produce a large stored energy reserve.
- Sixth, The EPOD is the 1st, and Only Actual Generator (not a battery masquerading as a generator) that can be Used In a Home Or Apartment With Little Or NO Ventilation. Due to the timed or sporadic and minimal nature of the EPOD emissions, the unit does not create or emit any substantial or continuous stream of exhaust gas emissions like conventional fossil fuel powered generators – thus making it possible to operate the EPOD in enclosed spaces with minimal (and sometime NO) ventilation.
- Seven, EPOD is designed for easy and simple User Maintenance / Repair. As with any machine, some maintenance or minor repairs may be required from time to time. EPOD comes with a multi-part tool kit that facilitates all potential maintenance, repair and/or replacement activity. A simple maintenance guide is available to users, both on the integral EPOD command screen or on the Internet.
- Eight, EPOD is the only Generator that provides a suite of “Extra Integral Capabilities” that enhance EPOD’s usefulness in Power Emergencies. These include: [a] a built-in 5 point area lighting system including 2 removable high powered flashlights; [b] a Built-in Battery Charger for commonly used AAA-AA-C-D & Transistor batteries; [c] an Internet Hub capable of supporting 10 users; and [d] an integral EMP (Electro-Magnetic Pulse) Protection System.
- Nine, EPOD Can be Pre-Charged using ordinary Wall current. The side port where the EPOD can be plugged in for charging can also be used to “Daisy Chain” EPODs (connect multiple units) to multiply the electric power that can be delivered.
- Ten, EPOD can be used by businesses as a UPS (Uninterruptable Power Supply) in homes, in offices and at POS in retail stores. Normal UPS systems kick-in when power is interrupted or completely fails. Normal UPS use their large internal battey system to power computers and other office essential for a period of time allowing the businesses to do an orderly shut-down. The EPOD‘s ability to do the same thing, but continuing to provide long-term power, through its internal IBS and integral power generation system, will allow businesses to continue to operate even in a power outage. EPOD will be the world’s 1st UPS that can generate its own power.
EPOD’s 10 advantages will make it an important Distributed Emergency Energy System with multiple uses in Consumer, Business, 1st Responder, Military and Governmental markets.
